Submission Guidelines

We invite submissions of completed manuscripts or book proposals for works that are consistent with our publishing focus.

For book proposals, we will consider and advise if the work looks appropriate, but we make no publishing commitments until a book is complete.

Mail your hardcopy manuscript to:

Hub House Publishing
c/o Acquisitions Editor
7431 S. Ireland Circle, Suite B
Centennial, CO 80016

If you need return of the material, please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

The following guideline will assist in focusing your thoughts about your book and provide the necessary information needed for publishing consideration.

The Book

1) Working title. Submit one working title for your book. You may also submit additional suggestions for titles. The final decision on the final title and subtitle of the book lies with the publisher.

2) Identify objectives and main idea/key points of the book including tentative chapter titles and chapter synopses.

3) Audience. Identify the intended audience. Be specific.

    - Primary audience

    - Secondary audience

4) Total pages and number of total words

Layout

1) Double-spaced, 1" margins all around, no spaces between titles, subtitles or paragraphs.

2) Special materials, tables, or figures

3) References cited, if applicable

4) Resources recommended, if applicable

About the Author

1) Why are you writing this book? What need are you filling?

2) Qualifications. Explain your unique qualifications for this project. Why are you qualified to write this book

3) List names, companies, titles and contact information of those people that will potentially write a foreword or provide endorsements for the book.

4) Platform. List who is already interested in this book. How will you promote this book.

Timeline

1) Completion of manuscript (for proposals). What is your expected completion?

2) Turn around time (for completed manuscripts). When do you want to release your book?

Market Analysis

1)  List competing or related book titles, including author and publisher. How is it similar? How will this book be different? Better? More valuable to the reader?

2) Based on your research and analysis, answer the following questions. What is the recommended trim size (dimensions) and page count for your book? What is the recommended price point for this audience?

Marketing

Marketing is a cooperative venture between the author and the publisher. Anyone can publish a book. However, it is important that it sells. Identify actions that you will take to promote the sales of the book.

1) Organizations you will contact (local, professional, etc.),

2) Articles you will write (name the magazine or journal),

3) Conferences you will apply to, etc.

4) Seminars or workshops you will hold

We often have a backlog of manuscripts to evaluate, please expect four weeks for a decision on whether your manuscript is right for publication.

After contracting with the author to publish, Hub House Publishing requires at least six months for editing, layout and design, and printing.
